Why did the intellectual property rights start? who invented them? I'd really appreciate if some one can explain the answers to following questions as soon as possible. 1. Why did the intellectual property rights start? (what was the need) 2. Who invented them? 3. Which was the very first country to introduce it? 4. Who introduced this term for the very first time? Plus, it will be of great help to me if anyone could also explain how did the concept of intellectual rights come to Pakistan?
How do I register the intellectual property of an investment project? I have finished an investment project for a Logistics Activities Area. It's more or less like a group of warehouses providing services as 3rd party logistics providers for companies in international commerce. It is oriented to trucking, because it's the main (almost only) transport mode in Mercosur. I need to register the intellectual property before starting to offer it for sale. I live in Uruguay but I intend to sell the project worldwide. How do i register it? Is it valid to register it as a book? May I register at least the layout of the complex and the architecture? I am the only author of the project, which is my thesis work in Industrial Engineering. 1. Where do you want to register? At the Mercosur countries (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay), the USA and in Europe (at least Italy and Spain which are the most active here) 2. What do you want to register? The market research, the business plan, the architecture (incuding the layout and the designs of the warehouses) and the refrigerated warehouse design. 3. How do you plan to use the IP? I want to sell it to any company that works as 3PL provider, transfering my rights to them.
What are the intellectual property policies concerning academic papers written for conferences or journals ? I am wondering what are the exact legal terms concerning the Intellectual Property for academic or corporate research papers published in proceedings, presented at conferences or realized within a specific academic assignment ? Who owns the papers ? If this is the university or academic institution, is the author still allowed to diffuse his/her papers freely ? Why do we have to pay for a big proportion of the academic papers found on the Internet ? Where to get more information about this topic ? Thank you !
Who owns the intellectual property when a software company goes bankrupt? There were a lot of software companies that had failed. I am just curious: legally who owns the intellectual property when a software company goes bankrupt? I understand the fixed assets can be sold off to repay the debtors, but what about the intangible intellectual property that may not get sold? Also consider the scenario where the company just closes its door, and has not necessarily gone into the bankruptcy court.

What is the differences between reusing code and theft of intellectual property? I am trying to understand how reusing software programming code and theft of intellectual property by copying software code from another programmer without his consent is different. What are the requirements to being an intellectual property attorney? I recently graduated from law school and am studying for the NY bar (didn't take July). My undergraduate is in independent studies (yes, a quite useless degree). Does practicing intellectual property require passing a separate bar (as does patent law does). Do I need a technical background? It is essentially a sub-practice of patent law? And if the answer to the above is yes, is there a work around? Thank you.
How enforceable is a company's claim to own the intellectual property in any ideas that may be shared with it? Under "terms and conditions" on some company websites, they state that "your submission of any [comments, ideas, notes, suggestions, etc] shall constitute an assignment to us of all worldwide rights, titles and interests in all copyrights and other intellectual property rights in the submission". How enforceable is this? I am a designer and have sent images from my portfolio along with my resume to some companies. Could they really claim intellectual property rights to my ideas simply because I have shared them in the act of seeking a job?
What would NOT be considered intellectual property, but that people might think? Intellectual property can be a copyright, trademark, trade secret, process etc that is unique to an individual or organization. However, I am asking an example of something that would NOT be covered. A book, a movie and a business? Books and movies are usually copyrighted and protected, certain business processes are considered intellectual property and would be covered. Can anybody make coca cola? Who knows the KFC recipe? Thumbs down willow.

Why is real property for ever and intellectual property not? When one creates a real property, ie. builds a house on his own land, he retains the rights to it in perpetuity. When an artist creates an intellectual property, it will go out of copyright (unless renewed and there's a limit to that, I think) in a number of years. Why is real property treated differently from intellectual property? Is there a solid reason in the law? Shouldn't the artist retain his rights in perpetuity as well? Unless, of course, he elects to transfer them?
If I create a presentation for work, what are the limits of intellectual property ownership? For example, if I create several presentations for my employer, can I later create a for-profit tutorial/seminar video series on the same or similar topic? This would be an expansion of the original presentation. The information is not a company secret and can be learned through various technical publications. I assume all-out copying is illegal, however, since I created the presentation before, I could create the material again easily. How would I go about determining if the content is my "own" intellectual property? Thanks in advance!

Will this document or will be legally binding and are their laws that can override my wishes?

Is an engineering or science degree necessary to practice intellectual property law? I'm a first year law student with a background in web development. I've always been fascinated by online copyright issues and media distribution, so intellectual property seems like a good area to focus on for my second and third years. However, I've heard from a least one person that IP lawyers are pretty much required to have engineering or science degrees. My undergraduate work is in english and philosophy. Does this mean I don't have much of a chance as a copyright attorney?
