How big will the backlash against The McCanns be if they use the fund to pay for their legal team?

This is so morally and ethically corrupt that it defies belief. Surely even the McCanns supporters will agree with me on this. I also think that any money they make giving interviews should be given to childrens charities. They should not be allowed to make any money out of poor Madeleines demise. It is just WRONG. Please sign the online petition that paul c has started to show your disgust.

  1. Shame on the McCann's!!!
  2. You assume the rest of us are as poisonous as you are... I really could not care less about what you think.
  3. massive because that was to help find maddie not pay for legal expensis they have good jobs and can afford to pay it out of their salary
  4. I guess I would be "classed" (I hate that word, thats why there are the "signs" - reminds me of the Nazis and Jews) as a McCann supporter, and I agree, that they should never touch the fund set up to make publications of their daughter, and keep her in the public eye.
  5. Huge, atomic scale backlash, people are now fed up with this manipulative pair of liars !
  6. The fund should be frozen immediately pending any court case involving the McCanns.
  7. Is this confirmed?? If its true, then that is herrendous!
  8. I find it so wrong, but as I said I have got no right to sign any petition because I have not donated. If I had, I would certainly be asking for my money back. To people asking for sources, I do not know how reliable this source is, and I don't know if those were his exact words, but they use it as a quote so it must have been something similar to what he said. "But he confessed he is frustrated they are not allowed to use any of the £800,000 Madeleine Fund— boosted by celebrity appeals including Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and soccer star David Beckham—to pay their mounting legal bills. "It seems like a disaster that we've got this huge donated fund and now we're not allowed to use it for legal costs because we're under suspicion," said Gerry. "I never really imagined we'd be in this situation. " http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/0909_maddie.shtml
  9. Once I see a reputable news source confirm this, I don't believe a word of it. As I have seen so far, they have stated clearly that they would not use any of the fund to pay for legal fees.
  10. Of course it would be wrong, both morally and ethically, however, it is a limited company and morals and ethics don't come into it, they can quite legally use that money. I just feel very sorry for all the people who donated out of the kindness of their hearts - to find a lost child. Shame on them if they do use it for their defence.
  11. it will be huge, big big mistake if they even try. funny though, they set up this fund for their missing daughter, but register it as a Ltd. Company? not a charity, and put their best friends and a couple of family members on the board to decide where the money should go, its all so suspect, even without all the new evidence, something just isnt right.
  12. How can Gerry say in one breath that he wants everyone to continue looking for Maddy (even though they are doing damn all) and now he is wanting to use the fund money which is designed to be used to find Maddy ? That means he is acknowledging the fact that she is dead and no longer needs the fund. They knew what they were doing from day one when they set up a private fund because they knew they would eventually be in the arguido position and would need to hire high powered £400 an hour lawyers. It stinks ? If poor Maddy only knew what they were doing. One day those twins will be old enough to read about their "caring" parents.
  13. There is no reason to ask the question... as the family have already stated (several times) no fees for legal work will be paid by/from the fund. So, you can sleep tonight
  14. MEGA! This is one of those cases that has touched the hearts of thousands and thousands of people world wide, I dread to think what the general public would do if they thought the money they donated was to pay their fee's. Yes your right it should go to other charities, Maybe a missing child charity to promote the youngsters that are missing.
  15. If they are prosecuted for a crime they did not commit then they should be able to use whatever funds available for a good defense. If not, then how will they be able to get as good a defense attorney as Portugal has prosecutors. You people have them hung by the neck til dead already anyway. weeder
  16. I think they will end up loosing their fans and supporters altogether and will fire up more hatred towards them. Any decent person with a piece of mind will condone this. Its not only immoral but stupid. To me, for them just comtemplating the idea of using Maddie's fund to save their sorry ar*e faces is plain disgusting. It clearly shows that they are indeed capable of doing anything.
  17. Sign the petition to try and get their funds frozed.. http://www.petitiononline.com/232037/petition.html http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/15130/Dad-I-ll-use-1m-Maddie-fund-to-clear-our-names/
  18. I've already signed the petition. It's outrageous that they want to use the money which was donated to find their daughter to pay for top class lawyers instead. They weren't so eager to spend it on actually looking on her though were they?
  19. Basically the turning point for public opinion against the McCanns was over the weekend. But to use the fund for legal proceedings will see a public relations disaster happen over night.
