is intellectual property rights in uganda today a myth?

This is a questio of discusion where i would want to know whether the intellectual property rights, that is, Patent right, copyright, and tramarks, are still of any importance/ value in this country. two or or one side could be given to me , that is yes/ no, according to the question above.

Public Comments

  1. International intellectual property law is not enforced in many nations. I would be suprised if Uganda enforced patents, copyrights and trademarks.
  2. In a word-YES! Sadly, because my former homeland is now under siege, individual rights to most anything do not exist. Political unrest in the region (Africa as a whole) and a shift toward socialism has made public speech and claims to property (intellectual and physical) a scary proposition
